Forests help conserve water, prevent soil erosion, and much more.   In Mbeya, people use a significant amount of trees for firewood and other domestic purposes.  This team decided to establish a tree nursery at their school to help replace those trees which are being cut down at a rapid rate.  They raised and planted several tree species, and distributed the trees to community members.  In addition, the team taught their fellow students about the importance of trees to other living organisms and encouraged them to plant their own trees at home. These students then educated their family members.
