Listed as a candidate species with the ESA, the Southern Idaho Ground Squirrel population is on decline due to habitat loss and urban sprawl. The Southern Idaho Squirrel Squad has been involved in habitat restoration, relocation, data collection, and community education. In this photo, two members are de-worming and vaccinating captive individuals at Zoo Boise, which it has in collaboration with Idaho Fish & Game for public education. |
